What if you could read someone's mind?
Full Disclosure
A mad scientist friend offers you a chip that would allow you to know what the people you’re talking to are thinking. The catch: you can’t turn it off. Do you accept the chip?
Yes, I do accept the chip. Even though people have a right to their own thoughts, I think that if I knew what people were thinking, I could do a lot for those people. Or, if they were planning something bad, and I found out, I could stop it. Also, however, what would happen to me in terms of behavior if I was able to do this? With power comes responsibility, and this is true in many ways. With this power I could do good things, or bad things. You need to keep this idea in mind if you had this power. For example, if you were to learn the combination to somebody's safe in a conversation with them, would you open it? Of course, it depends on if what's in it is important to you, but that's not the point. The point is, if you had the opportunity to hear one's thoughts, would you harm anyone directly, like attacking them; or indirectly, like robbing a bank? Or would you do any good for someone? Or, just not do anything? This ability could potentially give you a very strong power, and how you use it is what it all comes down to.

Too many thoughts!
Full Disclosure
A mad scientist friend offers you a chip that would allow you to know what the people you’re talking to are thinking. The catch: you can’t turn it off. Do you accept the chip? What an interesting proposition - but I can say without hesitation, NO! I didn't even have to think about this one AT ALL. There is no way, no how I would want to hear other people's thoughts. FOR SO MANY REASONS.
It's kind of like knowing your co-workers salaries. It can only end badly.
First of all, I think we're all entitled to privacy. Being able to hear other's thoughts seems like a huge intrusion.
When I think about what goes on in my own head......I go through a lot of filtering before I open my mouth and even then I get it 'wrong' half the time! We all have thoughts that come to us, knee jerk reactions, or thoughts clouded by past experiences or whatever that are not indicative of our true feelings on something. What chaos would it be if those unfiltered, unformed thoughts were made known - then I'd have all kinds of thoughts based on that information.
Finally, I know how 'loud' my own head is -- how chaotic my thoughts can be sometimes. Do I really want to ADD to that with the thoughts of others?
I think the old saying 'ignorance is bliss' rings true here. :)

The blog with no name
My son and I are blogging together - using a prompts from the WordPress Daily site. We thought it would be a good exercise in writing, and also fun to see how each of us approaches the topics. :)
